Season’s Choice Veggie Burger Review

img108I want a veggie burger to be healthy and to taste good. I bought this package of veggie burgers from Aldi’s because I was impressed with the ingredients: carrots, peas, whole oats, zucchini, endame, corn, string beans, spinach, corn meal, onions, wheat-free tamari, chickpeas, dried onion, red peppers, broccoli, garlic, and parsley. I was also thrilled to see that the burger contains only 90 calories.

Unfortunately, this is one of the worst-tasting burgers I’ve ever eaten–and I’ve been eating them since the 1970s. This is bland, bland, bland. I ate one on a grilled potato roll hamburger bun and immediately decided the next one would be dressed up. It made no difference–the second one was also awful despite having fresh avocado, mayonnaise, ketchup, Country Bob’s, and spinach.

It is difficult to believe that this was tested. I can’t imagine how terrible the first versions were. Yuck!

    I dont agree with u, I tasted this yesterday and by far is one of the best veggie burgers out there, all u gotta do is add some seasoning

      Please let me know how you seasoned it. I have two left in the freezer. By the way, have you tried the Boca flame-grilled burgers–and, if so, what did you think?

        I AGREE with you they are horrible.
        Unless you over dress them to cover up their actual taste which is what i do.
        I cook them so many ways giving you pointers would take a whole page. The best one is take it from the freezer hot sauce to both sides. put it in the oven, cook through on both sides then add your condiments.
        That made it taste a heep better plus my yellow onion helped alot.

          I’m not sure if Aldi employees were leaving the glowing reviews but these are mushy, flavorless, and the texture is all off. All the suggestions on seasoning them are interesting but they aren’t worth another try. I think the one reviewer was right – they just not have had consistent batches. Thanks for posting this Lynn. 💜

        I love these burgers! The first time I had them was at a BBQ and they had been cooked on the grill and were delicious but since I don’t grill out, I just spray my pan with a little olive oil, sprinkle on some onion or garlic and heat up. I eat them without bread, dip them in ketchup and eat with a salad. One of my favorite lunches!

      Agreed! We tried to grill them, and they’re a little too moist to grill, so we did them in out cast iron skillet. I thought the taste was absolutely AMAZING, and so did my husband – and if HE liked it, it’s got to be good! He’s the adult “Mikey”!!!

    I totally disagree too. I really love it!!!! I ate it with a slice of vegan cheese and added ketchup and mustard and spinach on top and it was sooooooooooo good. I think you’re crazy for saying it’s bad. I’ve been vegan for 2 years and have tried so many veggie burgers too. I love that these are only 90 calories too. Freaking awesome. so excited that Aldi is carrying these.

      I probably am crazy, but I still think it’s pretty awful. I cooked it using a George Foreman grill because it makes most things taste pretty good. How did you cook yours?

    I think this is the BEST Veggie Burger I have EVER had, and I have been a vegetarian for all of my 81 years. Unfortunately my local Aldi,s is out of them now, and I am looking to find more. Can anyone help. Who else sells them besides Alsi,s?

      I think Aldi is the only one that carries them. It says on the box that they are distributed by Aldi. I can’t find them either. I just sent an email to the company. You might want to do that also. Maybe if enough people do that, they will get them again. Hope so.


      I totally loved these burgers! Stumbled acriss them in Aldi’s last week. Great taste great price. I baked them in my toaster oven for about 14min following the directions for “conventional oven” on the pack. I topped it as I would any other burger with pepper jack cheese, red onion,tomato,bread&butter pickles on jalepeno bun! Delicious! I will definately buy them again

    i tried these a couple days ago for the first time. i also was quite impressed with the ingredients and nutritional facts especially compared to others. not to mention the price, these are cheaper than the name brand with a coupon on sale! anyway, i have to say these are the best veggie burgers i have eaten and for the price, wow. i cooked min in a toaster oven, flipped 3 times, 6 minutes each on 400. please, know, my toaster oven does not seal as good as it should, this is the reason for the time. 100% whole wheat bun, (aldi use to have, don’t know what happend) veganaise, organic Ketchup, (bought at ald)i, mustard, (aldi of course) romaine and spinach (aldi). it was wonderful.

    I really liked it. Seasoned it with Sazon and wing sauce. Placed on 100 calorie thin bun bread with mustard, pepper jack, olives and baby kale leafs.

    I too really like these veggie burgers and have been trying to buy more, but have not been able to find them locally. I have been saving the last one in the package and just gave in eating it tonight. Sure would like more!

    I totally disagree with you. I’m forever in search of the perfect veggie burger. I love these veggie burgers. Great flavor, crazy good ingredients. I’m excited about finding these, yes I said excited.

      Also, the fact that they are non GMO is HUGE!!
      My favorite was a Morningstar basil mozzarella til I found out they are basically Monsanto. Never again. These are better anyway.

    I wasn’t impressed with the taste of these either. I added cheese, mayo, pickles, didn’t help. The ingredients and price are great but Morningstar still taste better.

    I’ve been vegetarian for over a decade and a half now and have eaten all kinds of veggie burgers. I was delighted to see these at Aldi and looked forward to trying them. I struggled with these in both my first and second attempts. They were not nearly as flavorful as I anticipated with all of the tasty ingredients that went into it. I supposed that may be because I am used to saltier, fattier foods, to give them the benefit of the doubt. I liked Season’s Choice chipotle bean burgers far better. Way more flavor. I think the trick with the bean burgers was that I put them in the toaster oven longer than I had the veggie burgers. If you like that charbroiled kind of flavor, I think it may enhance the flavor of these healthy but not tantalizing burgers. (Remember folks, there’s no law on taste buds and we all respond differently!)

    For those of us that are running, as fast as we can, from GMO soy products, these are excellent! Sauté in EVOO in a cast iron skillet for best results! 🙂

    These veggie burgers from Aldi are amazing! Wish they were non-GMO though. I bring a box to work with me every week and put them in the freezer. Cook 1 min 30 sec in microwave, 1 thin sliced provolone, little S&P… YUMMY! 6 points for Weight Watchers. Veggie burger on its own 2 points.

    BOCA sucks and Morningstar is so artificial and processed tasting. Aldi burgers win by a mile for taste. Love both the Veggie Burger and the Black Bean. Do we know that they are NOT GMO?

    THESE ARE GREAT VEG BURGERS!!!!!! I’ve been eating v. patties forever, these are awesome!
    Too bland? Really? Come on. I’ve cooked professionally, unspiced is good. Pasta is bland. So are potatoes.
    Here’s what I do. “Butter both sides frozen with nondairy spread. Steam/Fry in a pan w/3 Tbs water.
    Flip in like 2 min. Cover. Cook another 2. Remove cover. Sprinkle soy sauce around the edge. Flip in 20 seconds ( after the water in the soy has evaporated ) Hot sauce to taste. 🙂

    I thought they were good. They don’t have the “burger” taste like my favorite boca burgers do. They almost had a stuffing flavor to them. So if you are looking for a burger taste then you will be disappointed, but they breadth in their own right.

    I think these are best by far! I have tried Boca & morning star & they don’t come close! I just hope the calories & fat grams are correct!!
    We tried spicy bean burger (same brand)—& wow!—had 18g of fat & wasn’t good.

    I’m trying them today and they were the best by far. I seasoned them with garlic and onion powder and olive oil. I would definitely purchase them again.

    They are not consistant I bought Season choice veggie burgers and one package was good the others where not same packaging and everything different veggie burger in every package

    did you know that seasons choice veggie burgers caontain fish eggs and soy. So people who have fsh allergies dont eat this product.

      I’ve tried numerous veggie burgers, but these had NO flavor except broccoli!! I am a HUGE Aldi fan and supporter! I love their Chipolte Black Bean Burger and grabbed the Veggie Burger by accident. So, when I tried it I was totally shocked at how little flavor it had. I added mayo, onion slices, lettuce but to eat the last ones, I’m going to have to add a LOT of seasoning to stomach these. Not my favorite by far.
