Gardein’s Ultimate Beefless Slider turned out better than I expected. Much better.
The idea of a frozen hamburgers complete with bun was intriguing but fraught with danger. I was worried that the bun would be the weakest link. I’ve also found Gardein products to be hit or miss.
The instruction had two preparation methods. One involved microwaving. I went with the stove top method because the idea of microwaving bread is distasteful. The stove top method is quick and efficient. You simply preheat vegetable oil and then cook the patties and buns separately. It took less than five minutes.
The sliders looked like the box’s picture, and they smelled great while cooking. I put American cheese on two sliders (because of the way they’re packaged you need to cook two at a time) but added no condiments. The sliders were satisfying and quite good. This product is difficult to find (I found it at a natural foods warehouse store in Johns Creek), but I’d definitely buy them again.
Five out of five stars.
